不過，更年期患者把朱古力瘤留在體裡，會危害健康嗎？黃醫師解釋，經期沒有不適症狀的患者，在步入更年期後，月經會逐漸稀疏直至停經，由子宮內膜組織構成的朱古力瘤亦會因停經而趨向萎縮，逐漸被人體吸收，一般不用額外處理；但若朱古力瘤超過5cm，且有腹痛、腹部腫塊、異常出血、性交疼痛等症狀，就建議定期每半年或一年就醫追蹤，雖然概率很低，但朱古力瘤亦有惡變的機會。
